Massachusetts to test out mobile contactless payments for SNAP

The USDA is trying to move into the modern era by utilizing all the technology available. Currently, those who are on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)use their SNAP card to make purchases. But that may change soon.

Massachusetts has been chosen as one of five states, along with Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma, to test out mobile contactless payments in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If successful, anyone who uses the program will have another option: to pay by simply scanning or tapping their phone.
