Massachusetts State Police trooper locates Oliver Nash, missing 3-year old boy

“On the evening of April 11 Brookfield Police issued an alert for a missing three-year-old boy, Oliver Nash, in the vicinity of 27 Shore Rd. on Lake Lashaway in North Brookfield. The young boy had been playing outside with his five-year-old brother and was found to be missing by his mother.

The North Brookfield Police and Fire departments responded to assist in the search, as did Troopers from the State Police-Brookfield Barracks and K-9 Unit and two Troopers who were working extra patrols targeting distracted driving.

The boy had been missing about 20 minutes when the alert was issued and the family home had been searched with negative results.

Approximately 30 feet from the residence was a small shed where numerous kayaks and water toys were stored. Trooper Richard Caron searched the shed, moving kayaks in his search for the young boy. In the back right corner of the shed, he discovered the child curled up in a fetal position, cowering in fear. Trooper Caron brought the boy out and reunited him with his very relieved family.

Lieutenant George Demos, Station Commander of State Police-Brookfield, commended Trooper Caron is commended for his dedication to duty and perseverance in looking for little Oliver Nash. The photo shows Trooper Caron with Oliver and a family member.
