Nov. 10, the nation marked the 241st birthday of the United States Marine Corps, and the Massachusetts State Police thank the men and women of the United States Marine Corps and all Veterans for their service in the name of freedom. Likewise, the State Police are proud to again support the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program to help local families in need.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police and United States Marine Corps Reserve appeal to the public to support Toys for Tots through donations of toys or money. The donations will assist charitable organizations that provide children’s gifts for Massachusetts families in need.

“We realize that we are asking for donations during difficult economic times, and yet, these are the times that I have found that we come together as a community the best when children from families in need require our help the most. So we ask those who can afford to do so, to help us again make this year’s campaign a success,” said Colonel Richard D. McKeon, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police.

This year is the 69th anniversary of the Marine Corps Reserve’s leadership of the Toys for Tots Program. Please help us celebrate the United States Marine Corps Reserve Centennial and its service to our country by donating to the Toys for Tots Campaign. During the Massachusetts State Police 151 years of service, we have partnered with the Marines on the program for the last 32 years. Every year we look forward to the Toys for Tots drive during this season of giving.

“I’m honored and privileged to have the Massachusetts State Police participate and partner with the United States Marine Corps Reserve for such an important endeavor”, said Colonel McKeon.

Donors are asked to give new, unwrapped, non-violent toys, designed for either boys or girls, age’s newborn to 14. As in years past, toys can be dropped off at any State Police Barracks through Sunday, Dec. 18th.

The State Police 7th annual “Fill the Cruiser” event is scheduled for December 3th, 2016 from 10am-4pm. There are ten Toys ‘R’ Us locations statewide. The locations are Auburn, Dedham, Framingham, Kingston, Northborough, North Dartmouth, Peabody, Springfield, Swansea, and Woburn. During this event, Troopers and Marines will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots. We hope that you will join us in kicking off this event and spreading the word of a worthy cause.
