Illegal window tint leads to Massachusetts State Police charging man for cocaine trafficking

Shortly after 9 a.m. today Trooper Paul Martin, assigned to State Police-Middleboro, was on patrol in Brockton. While traveling on Oak Street he observed a white Toyota Camry with excessive window tint. Trooper Martin took up a position behind the Toyota then activated his blue lights and initiated a traffic stop.

After the vehicle came to a stop Trooper Martin approached it and identified the operator and sole occupant as LUE ANDRADE, 25, of Bridgewater. After a short investigation on scene ANDRADE was found to be in possession of a large amount of individually packaged marijuana with a weight over the legally permissible limit. ANDRADE was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest, however, while doing so Trooper Martin was approached in close proximity by numerous individuals not involved in the traffic stop.

For safety reasons the Toyota was towed to the Middleboro Barracks while Trooper Martin transported the prisoner, keeping the tow in constant visual range, then conducted a search of the vehicle at that location. A K-9 was also dispatched to the barracks to assist with the search.

After a search of the vehicle Troopers located numerous plastic bags containing a substance suspected to be powder cocaine with a combined weight of 393 grams. Troopers also located numerous bags containing a substance suspected to be crack cocaine with a combined weight of 292 grams. ANDRADE was booked at the Middleboro Barracks. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $2,500, which ANDRADE was able to post.

ANDRADE was scheduled for arraignment at Brockton District Court on the following charges:

01. Possession of a Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute; and
02. Illegal Window Tint.

He will be arraigned at a later date at Wareham District Court on the following charges:

01. Trafficking in Cocaine (crack cocaine); and
02. Trafficking in Cocaine (powder cocaine).
