“On Sunday, Falmouth Police Department requested assistance locating a subject that was threatening people with a knife in the area of West Falmouth Harbor.

The man, 45-year old Augusto Darosa of Falmouth was apparently angered after learning that he needed a parking sticker at Chapoquoit Beach and got into a heated argument with the parking lot attendant.

He left, but later returned with a knife and allegedly began assaulting beachgoers, slashing tires, and damaged the private property of beach employees.

Darosa was charged with two counts each of assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, assault and battery, threatening to commit a crime, intimidation of a witness, vandalizing property and a single count each of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and breaking and entering a vehicle or boat in the nighttime for felony.

The Massachusetts State Police Air 5 helicopter crewed by Sergeant Gregg Spooner and Trooper Justin Grigg responded from Plymouth airbase to assist with the search for the suspect who fled the scene.

Using infrared imaging, the Air 5 crew was able to locate the wanted subject hiding aboard a boat off the coast of a peninsula that Falmouth PD was searching. Sergeant Spooner and Trooper Grigg directed a vessel carrying Falmouth officers to the subject’s position on the boat and he was taken into custody without incident.

Darosa was held without bail after being arraigned on the 11 charges in Falmouth District Court.” -Massachusetts State Police.
