Massachusetts State Troopers seize 500 Bags of heroin from motor vehicle stop

Last night at about 7:25 p.m., Trooper Patrick Dolan assigned to State Police-Northampton was on patrol on Worcester Place in Holyoke when he observed a black Acura commit motor vehicle violations. Trooper Dolan stopped the Acura at the intersection of High Street.

Trooper Dolan approached the vehicle and identified the male driver as SANTIAGO SOLTREN-RAMIREZ, 31 of Holyoke. While speaking with SOLTREN-RAMIREZ, Trooper Dolan observed several wax paper folds stamped with blue ink in the center console area of the vehicle. As Trooper Dolan removed SOLTREN-RAMIREZ from the vehicle several more wax paper bags stamped with blue ink fell from his lap. SOLTREN-RAMIREZ was placed under arrest and secured in the rear of Trooper Dolan’s cruiser.

Upon securing the driver Trooper Dolan conducted a search of the vehicle and located 500 bags of a substance believed to be heroin, a plastic bag containing pills believed to be MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly referred to as Molly), and $613 in cash.

SOLTREN-RAMIREZ was transported to the Northampton Barracks where he was booked and charged with the following offenses:

1. Possession to Distribute Class A, 2nd Offense;
2. Possession of Class B, 2nd Offense;
3. Number Plate Violation; and
4. Equipment Violation.

SOLTREN-RAMIREZ was transferred to the Hampshire House of Correction pending his arraignment in Holyoke District Court today.
