New Bedford man arrested on Narcotics and Firearms offenses

Shortly after 3:30pm yesterday, while on patrol on Bullard Street in New Bedford, Troop D CAT Team Trooper’s conducted a traffic stop on a black Lincoln LS as they observed the operator texting and driving. While speaking to the operator, identified as SEVERN WILLIAMS, 20, of New Bedford, it was discovered he was in possession of a loaded .380 Llama handgun. WILLIAMS does not possess a license to carry firearms.

WILLIAMS was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. During a subsequent search of the vehicle an additional loaded magazine, 8 bags of cocaine, several bags of marijuana, two digital scales, plastic bags, money and cell phones were located.

He was transported to the Dartmouth Barracks where he was booked. WILLIAMS was then transferred to an area jail and held until his arraignment today at New Bedford District Court.

WILLIAMS was charged with the following offenses:

• Carrying a Loaded Firearm;
• Possession of a Firearm with a License;
• Possession of a Firearm in a Felony;
• Possess to Distribute Cocaine;
• Possess to Distribute Marijuana; and
• Motor Vehicle Offenses.
