Massachusetts State Police join other law enforcement agencies to mourn fallen Connecticut State Trooper Brian Mohl

“Thursday was a solemn day for the New England law enforcement community, as Troopers and Officers from all over gathered to mourn fallen Connecticut State Police Sgt. Brian Mohl, who died in the line of duty on Sept. 2 when his cruiser was swept away by floodwaters caused by Hurricane Ida.

Numerous Massachusetts State Police members attended the services to pay respects and, in the case of one Trooper and his dog, to assist mourners with feelings of grief or stress. Trooper Chad Tata, who is assigned to our Employee Assistance Unit, is the handler for Luna, one of our Crisis Response Dogs.

Among the many missions that Trooper Tata and Luna fulfill is offering support and comfort to first-responders and civilians in traumatic situations. Yesterday, reporter Jimmy Altman from FOX61 in Hartford took a moment to interview Trooper Tata about the important work that he and Luna do.
