Two Massachusetts men arrested for Trafficking Heroin

Yesterday, Trooper Brandyn Henson, of the State Police-Bourne Barracks, arrested JAQUA SMITH, 24, of Onset, and SHAWN PANEPINTO, 22, of New Bedford, and charged them with Trafficking Heroin.

Just about 9:30 a.m., Trooper Henson was on patrol on 11th Street in Wareham when he observed a Honda CR-V with an expired inspection sticker stopped at a stop sign. The CR-V continued to travel on 11th Street eventually pulling into a parking lot and parked.

Trooper Henson made contact with the occupants and identified the operator as SMITH and his passenger as PANEPINTO. As result of an investigation and search the vehicle approximately 400 grams of Heroin was located inside a container which was inside a backpack.

Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Bourne Barracks for booking where bail was set at $250,000. They are being held at the Plymouth House of Correction pending their arraignment on Tuesday in Wareham District Court.

SMITH was charged with the following offenses:

• Trafficking in Heroin/Morphine/Opium; and
• No Inspection Sticker

PANEPINTO was charged with the following offense:

• Trafficking in Heroin/Morphine/Opium
