Massachusetts man wanted for allegedly assaulting infant caught in New York

Police and federal agents caught up with a Massachusetts man that was wanted for allegedly assaulting an infant.

After 28-year old Avery Pollock allegedly assaulted and critically injured his own 2-month old baby he fled the scene. The baby suffered brain injuries from the assault and was listed in critical condition.

An arrest warrant was executed for Pollock as he was charged with assault and battery on a child. While the Pittsfield Police who were handling the case began searching for his whereabouts they learned that he had hopped on a Greyhound bus and was heading to New York. Because he had fled the state and crossed state lines, the Pittsfield Police Department informed this FBI who picked up the baton.

On Monday night, Pollock was arrested by Port Authority police and the FBI inside Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal while waiting to board another bus to Houston, Texas.

Pollock will be held in custody in New York until his extradition to Massachusetts to face the charges.
