Massachusetts man arrested on gun, drug charges on Route 91

On Tuesday, April 3, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Trooper Scott Boutell, who is assigned to the Shelburne Falls Barracks, was patrolling on Route 91 in Greenfield when he observed and stopped a gray Mazda for committing motor vehicle violations. The vehicle contained two male and one female occupant.

Trooper Boutell made contact with the driver, subsequently identifying him as a 37-year-old male from Methuen and his passengers as a 30-year-old female, of Hatfield and a 35-year-old male, of Manchester, NH. The driver did not have an active driver’s license.

As a result of an investigation and search, located in the vehicle or on the driver was, a Beretta 9mm, 2 fully loaded 17 live cartridge magazines (w/ 34, 9mm caliber live cartridges), a S & W M&P 15-22, S & W .22 caliber rifle, 25, .22 caliber live cartridges, 176 grams of crystal meth, 2 double-edged knives, a sword, a scale and ecstasy pills. None of the occupants possesses a license to carry a firearm.

All three were placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Shelburne Falls Barracks for booking. All three were held for court in the morning in Greenfield

The driver was charged with the following offenses:

1. Number plate violation
2. Loud exhaust
3. Left lane restriction
4. License not in possession
5. Registration not in possession
6. Cracked windshield
7. Unlicensed operation of MV
8. Trafficking in Methamphetamine
9. Possession of class B
10. Possession of a firearm in a felony
11. Possession of burglarious tools
12. A 7 B on a police officer
13. Carrying a dangerous weapon
14. Carrying a dangerous weapon
15. Unlicensed possession of a firearm
16. Carrying a firearm
17. Possession of large capacity rifle without a license
18. Possession of ammunition without FID card
19. Improper storage of a firearm

Both passengers were charged with the following offense:

1. Trafficking in Methamphetamine
