Massachusetts has its 2nd Coronavirus related death; total cases now exceed 500

The Massachusetts Department of Health reported that a Middlesex County woman in her 50s who had a preexisting health condition, passed away on Saturday. This comes two days after the state’s first fatality due to COVID-19, an 87-year old Winthrop man who also had a pre-existing health condition.

State officials also announced that of the 5,200 residents that have been tested, 525 have been found to be positive for the virus, 112 on Saturday alone and one in Fall River. 61 people are currently hospitalized.

Those with pre-existing conditions are considered to be at a higher risk for COVID-19. The total for the nation is 15,219 cases and more than 200 deaths.
