Tuesday afternoon, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Trooper Zachary Bolcome, who is assigned to the State Police-Revere Barracks, stopped a Honda Civic on Route 16 near Broadway in Revere for motor vehicle violations. All four occupants of the vehicle were found to be under the age of 21, and found to be in possession of marijuana.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the operator, who was identified as a 19-year-old man from Malden, informed Trooper Bolcome that prior to being pulled over, he was attempting to sell the three men marijuana, when they brandished firearms and were attempting to rob him, then forcing him to drive.

Trooper Bolcome subsequently requested additional troopers to the traffic stop, where the three occupants, LENIN PIMENTAL, 19, of Roxbury, JOHEL MIMS, 19, of Malden, and JAYSON VEGA-CASTRO, 19, of Revere, were all removed from the vehicle and placed in custody. Two firearms were subsequently located, a Colt D.A. 38 revolver, and a Raven ARMs MP-25.

PIMENTAL, MIMS, and VEGA-CASTRO were charged with the following:

1. Kidnapping with a firearm-armed;
2. Attempt to commit a crime;
3. Possess firearm while committing felony;
4. Possess firearm without FID card;
5. Possess ammunition without FID card;
6. Carrying a loaded firearm;
7. Possess open container of marijuana in motor vehicle.

VEGA-CASTRO was also found to have an active arrest warrant from Chelsea District Court for motor vehicle offenses. The three men were scheduled for arraignment yesterday in Chelsea District Court.
