On Friday, July 27, at about 9:15 p.m., Wareham Police Officers Stephen Harrison and Aaron Pacheco were on patrol in the White Island area as part of a Federal Grant program. While on Barker Road, Officer Pacheco was forced to swerve off of the roadway to prevent a head-on collision with a vehicle completely in the wrong lane. An accident was barely averted, however, the offending vehicle continued down Barker Road. Officer Pacheco turned the cruiser around and pursued the vehicle, which pulled over and stopped on Morrison Street.

After an investigation, Ronald Deshiro Jr., 55, of East Wareham was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Mr. Deshiro is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court on Monday, July 30, charged with;

1. Operating under the influence of liquor, 4th offense
2. Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
3. Marked lanes violation
