Man arrested for selling crack near a school in Fairhaven

Fairhaven Police Detectives, working with the Bristol County Sheriffs Office South Coast Anti Crime Team, arrested two men after they observed them complete a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the lobby of the CVS store on Route 6 in Fairhaven. Just before 3pm Monday afternoon, Detectives watched as 29 year old Dennis Rose Jr. sold crack cocaine to 44 year old Eduardo Collazo. The two men then parted ways with Collazo leaving in a vehicle while Rose sat down on a bench in the CVS plaza.

Investigators watched as Rose removed a plastic baggie from his pants pocket. He tied the open end of the plastic baggie and placed it back into his pocket. After observing Rose’s actions, Detectives moved in and placed him under arrest without incident. After being taken into custody, Rose was found to be in possession of over 2.5 grams of crack cocaine, more than 2.5 grams of heroin, a single tablet of Xanax and over $1,100 in cash.

Police stopped the vehicle Collazo was a passenger in and discovered he was in possession of crack cocaine and had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. Collazo, who currently lives on Emery Street in New Bedford, was arrested charged with possession of crack cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Rose, who currently resides on Union Street in New Bedford, was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of a class e substance, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Rose was also charged with school zone violations due to the close proximity CVS has with the Hastings Middle School.
