Man arrested for assault and battery on a 4-year old Dartmouth child

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, Dartmouth Police responded to an apartment located on Ledgewood Blvd. regarding a disturbance called in by an anonymous neighbor.

Upon investigation, Dartmouth Detectives determined that Richard Pinheiro (28) of Fall River had assaulted and beat a four year old child who he was babysitting for.

Subsequent to the investigation, Pinheiro was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with Injury on a Child Under the Age of Fourteen (14).

The child was treated and released at St. Luke’s Hospital for the injuries sustained during the assault.

Pinheiro is currently being held without bail at the Bristol County House of Corrections in Dartmouth.

The lead investigator on the case is Detective Sean MCGUIRE.
