Lorenzo’s Bakery in New Bedford seized by Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue

Today, several official Massachusetts Department of Revenue posters were placed on Lorenzo’s Bakery at 1533 Acushnet Ave in New Bedford stating that the location “has been seized for nonpayment of taxes, and is in possession of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”

As of 5pm this afternoon, The Lorenzo’s Bakery at 391 Robeson Street in Fall River did not have the same signs.

Just after 6pm, the New Bedford Lorenzo’s Bakery Facebook page posted an update about their situation:

“We are going through a family emergency and we recently had some issues with our business. We are working to resolve the issue and things should be cleared up over the next few days. Thanks for your support.”

“Estamos pasando por una emergencia familiar y recientemente tuvimos algunos problemas con nuestro negocio. Estamos trabajando para resolver el problema y las cosas deberían aclararse en los próximos días. Gracias por su apoyo.”

On Feb. 21, the bakery posted on Facebook that they were closed due to a family emergency:
