Krav Maga Boston South Coast at 527 Church Street is expanding their kid’s classes.

Krav Maga Boston South Coast has quickly established itself as one of the premier martial arts and self-defense centers in the region. The building on Church Street is a clean, inviting facility. It is run by a professional coach in David Eaton who offers world class instruction based on a proven and tested curriculum. The friendly crew is always gladly welcoming new face – and now they are welcoming new faces of the young kind with the addition of a youth class for ages 5 through 12.

What are the benefits of taking up self-defense or martial arts in general, and specifically Krav Maga? Does your child have to be an athlete already? Is it safe to practice? Is it affordable? These are the most common questions owner, operator and head instructor David Eaton gets asked.

Bullying is increasingly common. Is your child prepared?

Krav Maga is a modern self-defense system devised by Israeli Commando Imre Lichtenfeld in the 1940s as a way for the Israeli military to better defend themselves in real world situations. Lichtenfeld combined elements from Boxing, kickboxing, Aikido, Judo, wrestling and other proven martial arts and added crucial components of fitness and athleticism. In addition, he brought all his actual experience from countless encounters to the mixture.

Since the 1940s, the Israeli Defense Force has further refined it and adapted for use by police forces and civilians. What this means is that someone who does Krav Maga spends time practicing techniques that have been used effectively by the military and police in contemporary times. In streets, fields, back alleys, homes – just like those venues that you or I will actually encounter.

Compared to many forms of traditional martial arts, Krav Maga is more health and fitness oriented. That means your child gets all the added benefits of a health and fitness program, but the difference is that being a martial art means it will captivate him or her. It will hold their attention because of how dynamic, fun, and exciting it is.

Being around a coach who has a Navy background means they learn discipline, organization and respect for authority. Being around other kids translates into developing important social skills. Losing weight, improving their health and fitness levels helps develop self-esteem and confidence.

All of these elements combine to prepare your child or children for dealing with bullying, physical altercations or the worst-case scenario of being attacked by a predator. Martial skill, confidence, ability, experience, and athleticism will all be brought to bear if something does happen.

Coach David Eaton’s wouldn’t teach anything he wouldn’t teach his own kids!

Best of all, if your child never encounters any of these situations, they spent all their time building positive physical and mental attributes, improved their health, developed social skills, learned camaraderie and learned an art. Not a bad deal.

A typical class includes a warm-up which often includes calisthenics and shadowboxing. Next are drills which involve using all your limbs to strike – a variety of punching, kicking, elbowing and kneeing. Coach Eaton then provides individualized instruction, attention and encouragement to those who need it. Kids then get to practice their techniques on focus mitts, pads and heavy bags.

If you are looking to help your kids learn to defend themselves, lose weight or get into better shape, hone the necessary social skills to interact with their peers, and develop all of the many other previously mentioned aspects, Krav Maga Boston South Coast is one of the finest facilities available. Coach Eaton is offering anyone who is interested two FREE classes, so you have nothing to lose in trying it out. Top notch instruction, by an accredited instructor teaching an effective, proven self-defense system sums up why Krav Maga South Coast has everyone talking.

Kid’s Classes are Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 6:00pm-6:30pm.
