Open Registration Sessions for Kennedy Summer Day Program

New Bedford Parks Recreation & Beaches will hold open registration sessions for families interested in enrolling their children in the Kennedy Summer Day Program. The Kennedy Summer Day Program is an opportunity for children to engage in a variety of sports, games, crafts, environmental education, and outdoor fun while making new friends. Activities include beach and swim time, special visitor programs by the National Park Service, Buzzards Bay Coalition, and many more. The program operates for 8 weeks during the summer between July1st and August 23rd.

Staff will be available to speak with families and answer questions. Registration sessions will be held on the following dates, times and locations:

  • Friday, June 7th 4-6pm at Normandin Middle School Community Room
  • Friday, June 14th 4-6pm at Buttonwood Park Community Center
  • Wednesday, June 19th 4-6pm at Fort Taber Community Center
  • Friday, June 21st 4-6pm at Fort Taber Community Center

The Kennedy Summer Day Program is operated out of Fort Taber Park and includes breakfast, lunch and transportation. The program is open to children who are eligible for kindergarten in September of 2013 through the age of fourteen. For New Bedford residents, each two –week session is $135 and financial aid is available for those who qualify at a rate of $70 per two-week session. If space allows, non-residents may register for $155 per session.

The registration deadline for all sessions is June 28th, 2013. Parents are encouraged to complete and submit an application as soon as possible as space is limited. Registration packets are available at the Administrative Offices of Parks, Recreation, and Beaches located at 181 Hillman St. in Building 3 or at the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center located at 181 Hillman St. For more information, please contact New Bedford Parks Recreation and Beaches at (508) 961-3015.
