The speculation is over – Hugh Dunn has pulled nomination papers to seek re-election for city council in Ward 3 instead of mayor. It was rumored that he was considering a run for the 4-year mayor term.
As of today only one other person, Pete Wilde, has pulled papers to be a possible challenger.
Both candidates need 50 valid signatures from registered New Bedford voters to qualify for the Oct. 1 primary election. At least three candidates are needed to have a Ward 3 primary election in October. If only two candidates submit valid nomination papers, both would move on to the November 5th general election.
