The Greater New Bedford unemployment rate is much higher than the rest of Massachusetts, but believe it or not there really are a lot of jobs available for qualified applicants. Sometimes the barrier to a new job can be the lack of information on available job openings. To solve this, each week New Bedford Guide will be working with the New Directions Southcoast (also known as the Greater New Bedford Career Center) and pulling jobs from our jobs database to inform job seekers about the hottest jobs in the area. We will define “Hot Jobs” as those jobs that need to be filled by the employer immediately. 1. Outside Sales #3496132 – Looking for a sales person to sell apparel decorated/embroidered and screen printed. Build your customer base. Reach out to businesses, schools, and sports organizations. Sales experience is helpful. Hours are flexible. This is a commission based position. 50% of profit. Middle man cut out. You will be working directly for the screen printing/embroidery company.
2. Cabinet Delivery Person #3506621 – Cabinet delivery person. Must be able to lift medium to heavy objects. Clean driving record, Duties to include light maintenance work, and occasional carpenter’s helper. Well rounded individual able to drive medium size straight axle box truck. Unloading, loading and delivery of kitchen and bath cabinetry and related items some weighing 75 to 150 pounds plus. High School Diploma required.
3. Medical Secretary #3506698 – Experienced medical secretary needed to check-in patients, check insurance eligibility, process referrals and answer phones. Must have 1-2 years of medical secretarial experience and excellent typing skills. Medical Assistant skills are a PLUS!!!! Medical terminology is required. Must be dependable, flexible and hard working. Must have own transportation to employer’s site. Transportation provided to job site. References required. 5. Shipper/Receiver #3338081 – Seafood processing plant in New Bedford looking to hire a Shipper/Receiver for 1st Shift. This position is temp to perm after 90 days.
Responsible for receiving and shipping of all production goods and commodity items.
- Maintain and monitor frozen/dry goods inventories accurately.
- Keep management informed of all activities and any significant change.
- Provide support at all times for the smooth and efficient running of daily production.
- Perform all assigned tasks in a a professional manner and in accordance with established company policies.
- Quality Control Inspector #3506791- This is a temp to perm position after 90 days. Conduct updates of quality control documents. Records manually. Conduct inspections for all manufacturing equipment prior to use. Inspect all incoming products (mainly scallops) for quality, safety and specification. Maintain testing equipment and conduct calibration as needed. Organize and administer product cutting. Insure all products produce meet and exceed all USDC, USDA, FDA and BRC requirements. Responsible for quality and safety of all products produced.
