The South Coast Hot Jobs List – 18 Jan 2014

The Greater New Bedford unemployment rate is much higher than the rest of Massachusetts, but believe it or not there really are a lot of jobs available for qualified applicants. Sometimes the barrier to a new job can be the lack of information on available job openings. To solve this, each week New Bedford Guide will be working with the New Directions Southcoast (also known as the Greater New Bedford Career Center) and pulling jobs from our jobs database to inform job seekers about the hottest jobs in the area. We will define “Hot Jobs” as those jobs that need to be filled by the employer immediately. 1. Embroidery Machine Operator #3514377 – A local company is in need of an experience Embroidery Machine Operator. The ideal candidate will have a good work history and be reliable and dependable. Will train right candidate. Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.

2. General Laborer #3514375 – A local company is in need of a laborer to clean, fold and pack shirts, and any other jobs on the floor. The ideal candidate will have a good work history and be reliable and dependable. Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.

3. Residential Instructor (Part-Time) #3517429 – Residential Instructor #1076
Part Time – 28 hours. Sunday 4 pm -12 am, Thursday 3 pm – 12 am, Friday 6 pm – 9 pm, Saturday 4 pm – 12 am. Assisting and teaching developmentally delayed individuals independent life skills including house maintenance, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, vehicle maintenance, community involvement, data collection and documentation and implementation of ISP goals. Approved driving record and use of personal vehicle, demonstrated experience with successful implementation of behavior programs, demonstrate ability to interact with and motivate individuals with limited verbal ability, knowledge of Autism, ability to follow behavior plans, commitment to community inclusion, ability to work with challenging behaviors, drug test and CORI required, valid driver’s license, MAP, CPR, First Aid.

4. Screen Printer/Flexographic Operator #3521511 – Setup and breakdown of press, analysis of job bags to ensure proper materials, inks and screens are being used. Must be mathematical, detail oriented and organized. High School or equivalent.

5. Welder/Fabricator #3514347 – Experienced tig welder to work on stainless steel, sheet metal and seafood processing equipment. Mechanically inclined. Fabrication assembly of pre fab parts. Overtime required. Must have driver’s license and transportation. Drug screen and background check required.

6. Stitchers #3521014 – Stitchers needed for local manufacturer. Some Experienced is required. Work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
