New Bedford Police respond to report of homeless man that slit his own throat

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes in.

At approximately, 1:30am on Saturday night the New Bedford Police Department received a call from an unknown woman saying that she saw a homeless man slit his own throat.

New Bedford Police Department and EMS arrived on the scene behind the Save-A-Lot store at 452 Mt Pleasant St, New Bedford, and found a tent behind the store. The man was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital but a private auto.

New Bedford Police went to the hospital for further investigation. In addition, police are searching for the 911 caller.
