Homeless man found deceased Tuesday at campsite in south end of New Bedford

A 43-year old man was found deceased on Tuesday in the south end of New Bedford after reportedly overdosing on fentanyl.

According to the Bristol County DA’s office, the man’s girlfriend called the police at 7:04 pm on Tuesday when she found him unresponsive after injecting fentanyl in a tent they lived in near a wooded area at 12 Cove Street.

Fentanyl is responsible for 93% of all overdose deaths in Massachusetts.

The toxicology report is pending.
