About City on a Hill (CoaH)
City on a Hill graduates responsible, resourceful, and respectful democratic citizens prepared for college and to advance community, culture, and commerce, and to compete in the 21st century. We do so by emphasizing academic achievement, citizenship, teacher leadership, and public accountability.

City on a Hill began with a single high school in Boston, opening its doors in 1995. Currently we have three locations: Circuit Street (Roxbury, MA) Dudley Square (Roxbury, MA) and New Bedford. All schools are tuition free and open to all students by lottery. Our continued expansion plans aim at opening more schools in Massachusetts’ high-need Gateway Cities to close the achievement gap in grades 9-12 and attain 100 % college completion.

ESL Teacher

•Teaching the equivalent of 3-4 sections of English as a Second Language, depending upon the results of ELL assessments and the final school schedule.
•Implement school wide systems, such as beginning of class routines, merits/demerits, writing across curriculum, as well as any additional academic initiatives implemented at the school or network level. As well as design and implement high quality assessment of student learning.
•Collaborate with SpEd teachers and content teachers to ensure appropriate adjustments to curriculum, instruction, and assessment are implemented and attend LN team meetings for all students in sections. Also attend quarterly parent/advisor nights, graduation, and other required school events

AmeriCorps Tutor
A paid year of service ($19,000 stipend) and potential for $5,500 education scholarship through AmeriCorps.

•Tutoring and Mentoring
•Developing strong relationships with families/guardians
•Leading extracurricular activities,tracking and reporting student results
•Staff assistance in academic support and substituting for advisors as needed.

Lead Special Education Teacher
A Special Education Supervisor is a combination of a teaching position and an administrative position. It is similar to the chair of a department who teaches a few small groups with additional administrative responsibilities. SPED Admin certification is not a requirement, however strongly preferred. Duties will include the following:

•Conduct weekly meetings with special education staff.
•Collaborate with the Dean’s office around discipline and students with IEPs, including the creation of behavior plans. As well as meeting weekly with the Student Services Coordinator and the Principal to track and discuss all issues relating to students services.
•Supervise and ensure quality of all quarterly progress reports Also update centralized, accessible database for key Special Education data also maintain, storage, and access accountability to all SpEd and 504 files, maintain special education and 504 temporary files.

Special Education Teacher
Support the special education students in their learning, the Special Education Supervisor in the work of the department, and general education teachers in their implementation of effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

•Teaching pullout sections, depending upon the enrollment of students with disabilities and summer school results.
•Implement the City on a Hill Special Education inclusion model and create and update master accommodations/modifications spreadsheet for general education reference.
•As well as Attend quarterly parent/advisor nights, graduation, and other required school events; Support Special Education Supervisor, as needed, with Open Houses and Admissions sessions.

Geometry Teacher– Position Overview

•Teaching 4 sections of Math (Geometry), with 1-2 separate preparations, depending upon the results of summer school and the final school schedule. As well as implement school wide systems, such as beginning of class routines, merits/demerits, writing across curriculum, as well as any additional academic initiatives implemented at the school or network level.
•Maintain accurate and transparent records of student work in the school’s Student Information System In addition to designing and implement high quality assessment of student learning. As well as attending all Town Meetings, department day meetings, and weekly faculty meetings and all grade level and IEP meetings of the students in all sections.

Paraprofessional– Position Overview.
Supports the special education students in their learning, the Special Education Supervisor in the work of the department, and general education teachers in their implementation of effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

•Implement the City on a Hill Special Education inclusion model as well as collaborate with general education and special education teachers for inclusion
•Proctor MCAS and SAT separate setting testing environments and provide after school academic support for students with disabilities
•Attend all grade level and IEP meetings of students in sections, quarterly parent/advisor nights, graduation, and other required school events
