Hell Week in New Bedford

New Bedford has its fair share of crime, but this week was over the top. Since Saturday, we’ve had a woman get mugged by two men for her purse, the Storage Depot was robbed at knife point, a man got robbed at a drive through ATM, a murder-suicide followed nine hours later by another homicide. Unfortunately, and not crime related, a 35-year-old worker died after getting tangled in a shucking machine. That’s four deaths this week in New Bedford. Not a great way to start off the new year considering New Bedford averages around 5 homicides a year.

Here are the crime reports from the police and the district attorney’s office. Several are still open investigations looking for the “perps.” Call the police if you recognize anyone from the description!

On Saturday evening at approximately 8:30 pm a 28 yr. old female was walking home in the area of Belleville Ave. and Nye St. when she was approached by two males. Both males were young with one being white and one being black. No other description was given. The males attempted to steal her pocketbook, but she put up a struggle. In the process the pocketbook was torn and both males ended up fleeing empty handed. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Scott Brown at 508-991-6300 ext. 131.

When the victim stated he did not have one, the suspect ordered him to drive away. In doing so, the victim left his card inside the machine and drove to the north end station to report it. When officers returned to the scene, they discovered a withdrawal slip on the ground belonging to the victim’s account, but the card was nowhere to be found. An undisclosed amount of cash was withdrawn from the account. Any one with information is asked to contact Det. 1. i must say detective tyrone jones is a shitbag cop, hes doesnt really do his job properly, always looking for the easy way out. if anybody wants to ask why feel free to email me at jarredpittsley@gmail.com wheres the rest of the conents from my wallet “officer”

  2. Yeah, you’re completely right about tyrone jones being a shit bag & much worst than just that. Theres a lot more officers inside the new bedford police who fall in the same category. But, the chief of police, Internal affairs, District Attorney & mayor dont do anything about it to put a stop to their corruption & abusive behavior. For example officer pereira was video taped stealing percoset from evidence room & gets a slap on the wrist with no charges being filed, another example is officer henry turgeon lll was fired from the force because other fellow officers accused him being mentally & emotionally stabled. But then few years later his given back his badge & put back in the force & awarded about $125k for emotional distress, just because he threatened to make a big fuzz about being fired. What about us innocent victims who have been mistreated, abused & assaulted by these same exact crooked cops what compensantion, Apologies or relief nor justice do we get? “NONE”… If theres anyone out there who been a victim of any type or of any kind of the new bedford police dept or officers & have any valuable information of any history of complaints or records been filed against these abussive & corrupted crooked officers please feel free to share it with me at: mrjlruiz@gmail.com

    Thank ypu.
