“To the person/persons who left this trap with an adult raccoon in it on the side of S. Main St. in Assonet this morning around 6:30 am:

1) It is illegal to trap wildlife without a license.
2) It is illegal to move wildlife in the state of Massachusetts.
3) She potentially has babies somewhere who will now die.
4) She was so scared of the traffic going by so close.
5) Morally, what a horrible thing to do to an animal.

If anyone has any information regarding this, please contact Animal Control@ 508-386-8227 or the Freetown Police Dept. @. 508-763-4017.

Thank you to the 1 person who called it in so she could be saved from the side of the street and thank you to the gentleman who was attempting to move her back away from the street.” – Freetown Animal Control
