Four tractor trailers crash on Massachusetts highways Tuesday morning

Around 7 am this morning, Massachusetts State Troopers report a serious crash involving tractor-trailer and box truck on Route 90 East (Massachusetts Turnpike) in Palmer. The Pike was shut down at that location and traffic was diverted to Route 20. No injuries reported.

At approximately 3:10 a.m. numerous MSP patrols responded to a major crash on Route 495 southbound, south of Exit 26, in Berlin. Three tractor-trailers and a pickup truck were involved in the crash and one of the tractor-trailers caught on fire.

Three people have been transported to area hospitals with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. Fuel has spilled onto the roadway and cleanup of the crash scene is progressing.

Troopers have shut down all lanes of 495 southbound at Exit 26, with traffic being diverted onto Route 62 in Berlin.

The pickup truck involved in the crash was towing an empty horse trailer. No horses were in the trailer at the time of the crash.
