State Police Investigate a Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Route 24 in Fall River

Last evening at approximately 10:25, State Troopers assigned to the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a motorcycle crash on Route 24 in Fall River, which resulted in the death of the operator.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 EX650 motorcycle was traveling on Route 24 north when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered into the guardrail on the right side and the operator, Joshua Silva, 22, from Seekonk, was thrown off the motorcycle. He was determined deceased at the scene. The motorcycle was located lying against the guardrail approximately a ¼ mile north of the original crash scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Sean Hennessey with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, Crime Scene Services Section and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Members of the Fall River Fire Department and MassDOT assisted at the scene.

No further information is available at this time. Please do not contact the barracks.
