Today, at approximately 7:05 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Middleboro responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Route 495 North, north of Exit 7 in Raynham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Vaccari indicates that the operator of a 1993 Lexus, a 22-year-old woman from Attleboro, lost control of the vehicle upon entering Route 495 north from the Route 24 north off ramp. The Lexus crossed three travel lanes and was struck by a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck, causing the Lexus to rollover into the median.

As a result of the crash, the operator and sole occupant of the Lexus was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Morton Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity is being withheld at this time pending family notification. The operator of the GMC truck, a 27-year–old man from Plymouth, was not injured.

The left travel lanes of Route 495 north and south bound side were closed for approximately two hours.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) and the Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS).

State Police were also assisted on scene by Bridgewater Fire and EMS and Mass DOT.

No charges have been filed at this time.
