New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park announces fall walking tours

Tours run through September 30.

Explore New Bedford’s history this fall through a guided walking tour. Free tours last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, and step off from the National Park Visitor Center at 10:30 AM on weekdays, and 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM on weekends. The tours take visitors through the cobblestoned streets of the park with waterfront views, while exploring the many stories associated with the New Bedford’s maritime past and present.

Tour topics include:

  • Risks and Rewards of Whaling
  • Unknown Heroes and Their Secrets: New Bedford’s Underground Railroad
  • Herman Melville’s New Bedford
