Fall River Robery Spree Defendant Sentenced to Seven to 10 Years State Prison

District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that a 35-year-old Fall River man who robbed four different businesses during the course of about 24 hours in October 2013, was sentenced Tuesday to serve seven to 10 years in state prison.

Michael Pacheco, formerly of 83 Quarry Street, pleaded guilty to four counts of unarmed robbery on September 22nd and was sentenced this past Tuesday by Superior Court Judge Rene Dupuis.

The robbery spree began on October 20, 2013 around 9:45 pm. On that date and time, Mr. Pacheco entered the Tedeschi’s convenience store on Pleasant Street and passed a female clerk a note that state, “No alarms, wait 10. No one gets hurt. All the money.” The victim handed over money and the defendant fled on foot.

Less than 12 hours later, on October 21st at 9:05 am, Mr. Pacheco entered the Bay Coast Bank on Pleasant Street and passed a bank teller a note that read, “this is a robbery. no dye packs. open draw! Give me large Bills! ASAP! All money in register. No one will not get hurt. Wait 15 min for to call Law Hurry Up!” The victim told the defendant she had no money in her drawer and picked up the phone to call the police. At that point, the defendant ran from the bank.

About a half hour later, Mr. Pacheco entered the St. Anne’s Credit Union on President Avenue. The defendant approached a bank teller and passed her a note, which read, “”All the Money! No Alarms No one will get hurt Hurry! I’m not playing.” The victim complied and handed the defendant an undetermined amount of cash, at which point he fled the bank on foot.

Later that same night, at around 10:15 pm, Mr. Pacheco entered a 7-11 convenience store on Pleasant Street and robbed its clerk of cash before once again fleeing on foot.

After a rapid investigation by Fall River Police, investigators determined Mr. Pacheco was responsible for all four robberies and began searching for him, with the assistance of other area police departments. Mr. Pacheco was arrested on October 22nd in Tiverton, RI.

Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Sowa and Jeanne Veenstra prosecuted the case.
