A 30-year-old Fall River man was sentenced to serve three to five years in state prison this week after pleading guilty to a November 2016 armed robbery at a Fall River convenience store.
Shawn Bailey pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to a two-count indictment, charging him with armed/masked robbery and breaking into a depository.
On November 4, 2016, the defendant entered S&M Mini Mart in fall River with a bandana covering the bottom portion of his face, and demanded money from the clerk. After the clerk refused several times, the defendant pulled out a knife. The clerk took a step back, and the defendant grabbed the entire cash register and fled the store. An officer recognized the description given out as the defendant and stated he lived at 175 Eastern Ave. Police went to that area and found the cash register in the driveway of 175 Eastern Ave. The officer also located loose change at the side entrance of the multi-family home.
When police entered the home of the defendant, they found a kitchen knife that matched the description of the one used in the robbery. Police also found the top of the cash register on the floor.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Melissa Hendrie, and the sentence was imposed by Judge Thomas McGuire.
“The sentence imposed by the court holds the defendant accountable for this violent robbery,” District Attorney Quinn said.
