Fairhaven woman charged after allegedly choking, assaulting Royal 7 Food and Deli

A Fairhaven woman was arrested Sunday morning on charges of strangulation or suffocation, assault and battery and shoplifting after she assaulted an employee at Royal 7 Food and Deli, 606 Summer St.

Brandi Lee Rezendes, 29, of Fairhaven, was attempting to leave the store with a stolen item when an employee tried to stop her. She bumped him in his chest several times and placed one of her hands around his neck. The employee managed to get free and called police.

Ms. Rezendes was transported to Ash Street Jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Third District Court.
