Fairhaven Police Officer rescues dog stranded on rock in ocean

“There’s been a lot of talk lately about how you don’t hear stories of ‘good cops,’ so here’s one❤.

I let my dog Prissy out and 5 minutes later she was just GONE. Behind my house there were no fireworks to be heard, out front a few far in the distance (that I didn’t notice, but she did.)

Robbie, myself, and some phenomenal neighbors (Brian, Melissa, & Mary Kate) looked for her for hours, alternating staying home and holding the baby monitor as Ella slept.

After looking for hours without a trace, we called it a night hoping she was hiding under someone’s porch and would come out in the morning.

Animal Control came to my door at 7:00 am with my Prissy. She had run up a street she wasn’t familiar with and was seen by a jogger this morning 100 YARDS IN THE OCEAN ON A ROCK.

The harbormaster was on his way to get his boat when a local police officer stated his boat was on West Island and headed over himself to get her. She jumped in the water, scared, and he had to chase her.

She’s home, hungry, stinking and exhausted, but safe.

❤ Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”-Kat Freitas.
