“There is growing interest in the game of beach volleyball and our East Beach courts offer players a spectacular ocean view. We are excited to host the 1st Annual East Beach Volleyball Tournament and we think it will be great opportunity for families and friends to enjoy a little friendly competition at our beautiful public beaches,” said Mary Rapoza, Director of the City Office of Parks, Recreation & Beaches.

“New Bedford has many diverse recreational assets and the volleyball courts at East Beach may be one of the best kept secrets of our system of parks and beaches. We hope that this tournament will attract area volleyball players, showcase the recreational opportunities at East Beach and bring the community together to enjoy our beautiful waterfront,” said Mayor Mitchell.

The event will feature local food trucks and music. A raffle with locally sourced prizes will also support the event.
