UPDATED: Driver involved in rollover crash in Wareham succumbs to injuries

CORRECTION: “It was incorrectly reported earlier that the operator of a Ford Ranger in yesterday’s serious crash on Route 25 in Wareham has died. He remains in serious condition at a Boston area hospital.” -Massachusetts State Police.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., yesterday, Troopers from State Police–Bourne responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 25 eastbound near the 2.2 mile marker in Wareham, which resulted in serious injury to the operator. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Wareham EMS.

Preliminary investigation indicates that 65-year-old Michael Roche, of Sagamore Beach. the driver and sole occupant was traveling on Route 25 East in a 1995 Ford Ranger when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control and rolled over into the median.

He was transported to Tobey Hospital and then transported by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital. He passed away today from injuries sustained in the accident.
