Come show your support, eat some food and listen to some great music.

Head to No Problemo (813 Purchase Street) Saturday, June 22 at 8:00pm to eat delicious food, listen to live music and donate to a great local afterschool program. Reel Serious Documentary Film Program is partnering up this summer with the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center and later this fall with Seven Hills Foundation to bring this filmmaking program to the Bay area. If your child is between the ages of 14-18 and is interested in taking a class, please contact Ivone at ivone@reelserious.org to sign up now. Spaces are limited.

If you are unable to join us at the fundraiser, don’t worry! From June 14th – June 24th, our donation boxes will be at the following locations: the Green Bean, Brick, No Problemo, Café Arpeggio, Café Balena, Mirasols Café, Celtic Coffeehouse & Pub and more. Go have a bite or grab some coffee and look for our donation box.

Reel Serious is a documentary film afterschool program that gives young filmmakers the tools to create, produce and distribute short films of relevance. Through the use of teamwork, technology and innovation Reel Serious affords storytellers a chance to explore their communities, discuss real issues or shine a light on a local hero. Our mission is to provide young storytellers the
opportunity to explore their communities and promote social change through the creation of a real serious documentary.

Reel Serious’ filmmakers create HIT films:

  • H – Honest
  • I – Inspiring
  • T – Transformative

“Documentaries are the first line of education, and the second line of education is dramatization…” ~Steven Spielberg

“Remember, as a documentarian you are an observer, an author but not a director, a discoverer, not a controller.” ~Albert Maysles

Thank you to the McCoy Family, Andrea McCoy Recreation Center, the New Bedford Cultural Council, and to all the local businesses who have given us their support.
