Dartmouth’s “My Brother’s Keeper” to host spring “Pop Your Trunk” collection drive

On Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10:00am-12:00pm My Brother’s Keeper will be hosting a Pop Your Trunk Spring Collection Drive for diapers, cleaning supplies and hygiene products.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, My Brother’s Keeper has significantly expanded its Food Assistance Program, delivering an average of 350 food deliveries each week to those in need on the South Shore and South Coast. Recipients can also request non-food staples such as toilet paper, paper towels, diapers and wipes, cleaning supplies and hygiene products.
Deliveries consist of a full grocery-like order including non-perishable canned goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, juice, eggs, butter, meat, cheese and bread. The average retail value of each food delivery is $200, but our cost per food delivery is only $14 thanks to significant in-kind donations and collaboration with other nonprofits. No cost is ever passed along to those that My Brother’s Keeper serves.
My Brother’s Keeper’s Food Assistance Program includes free, contactless delivery—especially critical for the elderly and those without transportation.
Demand for assistance in our community remains extremely strong so the Spring Collection Drive will help My Brother’s Keeper provide as much assistance to families as possible. The May 1st drive is one in a series with this one focusing on collecting non-food items such as: diapers, baby wipes, laundry detergent, sanitizing spray, wipes, toothpastes, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap and other similar products.
Future drives will be held on June 26th (sheets and comforters), October 9th (canned food items) and November 13th (new toys for Christmas program).
My Brother’s Keeper regularly purchases food and materials from vendors for these deliveries, so another way to support the Food Assistance Program is by making a financial donation online. More About My Brother’s Keeper:
My Brother’s Keeper is a Christian ministry with locations in Dartmouth and Easton, Massachusetts, which delivers furniture, food and Christmas gifts free of charge to local families in need. The organization’s mission is “to bring the love and hope of Jesus Christ to those we serve.” Anyone living in My Brother’s Keeper’s service area is eligible to receive help, regardless of religion.

My Brother’s Keeper has provided food assistance to Brockton-area residents for 25 years from its Easton facility and in 2020 launched a new food program at its Dartmouth facility to respond to the surge in demand for food assistance locally during COVID-19. From March 16, 2020 to the present day, My Brother’s Keeper has made 19,000 emergency food deliveries worth an estimated $3.4 million to 58,000 children, adults, and seniors.
