Dartmouth’s Bishop Stang High School Names Alexandria Andrade Head Softball Coach

Bishop Stang High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Alexandria Andrade, Class of 2009 for the position of Head Softball Coach. Bishop Stang Athletic Director Dennis Golden remarked, “We are excited to have Alex Andrade lead us in 2020 and going forward in our Softball Program. The game of softball is important to her, Bishop Stang High School is important to her, and the development of young people is important to her as well. Alex has played in our program and takes tremendous pride in it. She wants our young people to experience the same successes and share in the pride that she has in the program. Alex arrives with extensive playing and coaching experience. She is ready to help our players in all areas of the game; hitting, base running, fielding, throwing, and pitching. One of Alex’s greatest strengths is developing trust with her players, and they want to do their best with her and for her.

Upon entering Bishop Stang in 2005, Coach Andrade became involved in the Bishop Stang athletic program. Softball was her main sport, but she also participated in basketball and track and field. Coach Andrade was also a member of the Sr. Teresa Trayers, SND Chapter of the National Honor Society while at Stang. From Bishop Stang, Coach Andrade went on to Elmira College, where she was a two time Softball team captain. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elmira in 2013, with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Speech and Language Disabilities. Coach Andrade then earned a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis from Caldwell University in 2015. Today, Andrade is employed at Behavioral Connections, where she is a board certified behavioral analyst, coordinating programming for children on the autism spectrum.

Alex is married to Danny Tripp, and they have a young son. She has enjoyed coaching in and around New Bedford since she was a in her teens. Coach Andrade has worked with teams from the Bay State Girls Softball league for the past fifteen years. Coach Andrade is excited to work with the Bishop Stang High School program, and she sees skill development as a primary focus for the program. She wants to put the girls in learning situations in practice, in order to best prepare them for game situations that they will face. Ultimately and ideally, the players will then be able to help one another in practice and in game situations.

When asked about her feelings concerning leading the Bishop Stang Softball Program, Andrade said “I am excited for the opportunity and privilege to give back to my alma mater, and to coach at the high school level. I look forward to working with each player, and having each one make progress individually and as a team. Being able to coach at this level has always been a goal of mine, and to be able to do it at the place that has made me the person I am today is an absolute honor. Through guidance, faith and support, I look forward to assisting team members to be the best players and individuals they can be.”
