On Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at approximately 7:10 a.m., Dartmouth Police responded to the area of #897 Smith Neck Road to investigate a motorcycle crash.

While officers were en route, it was reported that the male operator of the motorcycle, as well as his passenger, had got back on the bike and quickly departed the area.

While heading to the crash scene, Officer Ryan REIS observed the motorcycle on the Padanaram Bridge.

In an effort to check on the health and welfare of its occupants, Officer REIS attempted to stop the motorcycle, at which time it fled.

Though Officer REIS did not pursue, he did observe the passenger dismount the motorcycle at the intersection of Middle Street and Bridge Street, after which time the operator continued to flee towards Dartmouth Street.

A short time later, Dartmouth Police received a call that a motorcycle had crashed at the intersection of Dartmouth Street and Cove Road.

Upon arrival, officers identified the motorcycle, a 2020 Suzuki, as the one which had fled from the earlier crash scene on Smith Neck Road.

As a result of non-life threatening injuries that the seventeen (17) year old male operator from Dartmouth sustained during the crash, he was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital.

As a precaution, the seventeen (17) year old female passenger was also evaluated by EMS personnel.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
