Dartmouth Police arrest New Bedford man for alleged Bristol County Savings Bank robbery

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at approximately 9:20 a.m., Dartmouth Police detectives, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, arrested David A. FRATES, 41, of Sherman Street, New Bedford in connection with Monday’s bank robbery at the Bristol County Savings Bank.

Based on evidence gathered by Dartmouth Police detectives, an arrest warrant was secured this morning for FRATES, and he was arrested without incident at his home.

FRATES was charged with armed robbery while masked, threats, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

FRATES was arraigned at New Bedford District Court, and is currently being held without bail until Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

According to Dartmouth Chief of Police, Brian P. LEVESQUE, “This arrest is a culmination of hours of hard work by my detectives, and it once again exhibits this department’s commitment to keeping this community, and its citizens, safe.”
