Dartmouth man dies of apparent heroin overdose

A 32-year-old Dartmouth man died of an apparent heroin overdose Sunday at a residence in the 400 block of Cedar Street.

Patrick Barrett, 32, of 22 Kingston St., Dartmouth, was found unresponsive and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Evidence of drug use was found near where the victim was found.

New Bedford Police responded to the scene at 11:19 a.m. Mr. Barrett was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital at 12:11 p.m.
