Dartmouth man arrested in New Bedford with narcotics, resisting arrest

Members of the New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit were targeting street-level narcotics sales in the south end when they observed a suspected drug transaction between individuals in the area of 11 Viall Street.

One of the individuals involved left the scene in a vehicle. When police attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of 951 Brock Ave., the car failed to stop for police and attempted to flee before finally coming to a stop.

After further investigation, police made the following arrests:

– Jose D. Medeiros, 49, of 16 Ash St., Dartmouth, was charged with possession of class A substance, conspiracy to violate drug laws, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

– Michael Flores, 20, of 14 McGurk St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, was charged with possession of class A substance with intent to distribute.

The arrests were made at about 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.
