Dartmouth man arrested after using cards stolen in Dartmouth at city businesses

A 39-year-old Dartmouth man was arrested Thursday after using credit cards stolen in Dartmouth car break-ins at New Bedford businesses. The arrest was made following a joint investigation by New Bedford and Dartmouth police.

Kevin John Amaral, 39, of 140 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, was charged by New Bedford Police with three counts of receiving a stolen credit card; three counts of larceny under $250; one count of larceny over $250; three counts of improper use of a credit card under $250; one count of improper use of a credit card over $250; and a warrant charge.

Amaral was charged with using the stolen credit card at Walgreens Pharmacy, 1103 Kempton St.; Cumberland Farms, 142 Rockdale Ave.; 7-Eleven, 389 Rockdale Ave.; CVS Pharmacy, 1145 Kempton St.

He was apprehended at the gas pumps at Haars Express at 775 Brock Avenue.

The credit cards were stolen from a vehicle on Osborne Street in Dartmouth.

Dartmouth police charged Mr. Amaral with breaking and entering, larceny and improper use of a credit card.
The New Bedford investigation was led by Det. Barry Pacheco.
