Cyclist causes accident that hospitalizes Boston Police motorcycle officers, flees scene, bites officer

“At about 10:56 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Officers Assigned to District D4 responded to the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard for a call for A Motor Vehicle Accident involving a Boston Police Department motorcycle unit and made an on-site arrest of Jason Souza, 39, of Roxbury.

A motorcycle unit Officer broadcast that at the intersection of the above, a male on a bicycle, later identified as Jason Souza, had caused a motor vehicle accident that involved Boston Police Department motorcycle officers. The officer additionally stated that Souza had fled from the accident scene on a bicycle toward Boston Medical Center.

Officers canvassed the area, located a bicycle and discarded clothing on Albany Street. Additional witnesses stated that a male had just left the items and requested clothing from another individual nearby. Officers eventually located Souza, and as they attempted to arrest him, he actively resisted Officers by flailing both his arms and legs and biting one officers hand. Officers were able to take Souza into custody without further incident. Two (2) Boston Police Department Motorcycle Officers were transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

After initially providing false identifying information, Officers determined that Souza was wanted on eight (? outstanding warrants for various charges. Additionally, Souza is to be charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.

Jason Souza is to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.” -Boston Police Department.

  1. With eight outstanding warrants, Souza really tried hard not to get arrested. He will spend some time in jail.

  2. Accidents are everywhere, so we need to be responsible in our doings to not cause trouble to someone.
