Police take cocaine, heroin off streets Tuesday with approximate value of $46,000

New Bedford police took 280 grams of cocaine and 180 grams of heroin off the street and a firearm and ammunition were located and seized Tuesday after search warrants were executed on three locations as part of an investigation into a cocaine and heroin delivery service.

The drugs have a combined street value of approximately $46,000.

Rafael Reyes, 37, of 12 Roosevelt St., Apt. 1, New Bedford, was charged with trafficking in cocaine (more than 200 grams), trafficking in heroin (more than 100 grams), possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense; possession of heroin with intent to distribute, subsequent offense; trafficking heroin in a school zone (Trinity Day Academy) and trafficking cocaine in a school zone (Trinity Day Academy.) Reyes was the target of the investigation.

The search warrants were executed at 12 Roosevelt St., 24 Warren St. and 248 Chancery St.

The investigation uncovered 280 grams of cocaine and 180 grams of heroin at one location, a weapon and ammunition at a second location and $45,977 in cash at the third.

The firearm was a .22 supershot eight firearm. Ammunition seized included ammunition for a .22 firearm, .9 mm shot shells, .9 mm Winchester rounds, .40 cal ammunition and three high-capacity magazines.

Police continue to investigate the ownership of the weapon and ammunition.
