City to Host Expanded Summer Sound Series on the Waterfront and Around Downtown
2014 Summer Sound Series Will Include Concerts on Pier 3, Lunchtime Jazz at Custom House Square, and Sidewalk Sounds on Front Street Plaza

Mayor Jon Mitchell has announced the City of New Bedford will again host the Summer Sound Series—a series of live summer concerts on the waterfront and around downtown. The 2014 Summer Sound Series will be expanded this year to feature concerts on not only on Pier 3, but also Sidewalk Sounds on Front Street Plaza and lunchtime jazz at Custom House Square. The Sound Series is presented by the City of New Bedford Office of Tourism and Marketing and the Harbor Development Commission.

Residents and visitors are invited to dance to live music, enjoy beverages available for purchase, and relax along New Bedford’s beautiful waterfront and historic downtown. Concertgoers are encouraged to continue to enjoy summer evenings in New Bedford at one of the many fine restaurants that will offer concert night specials. A full list of participating dining venues is available at destinationnewbedford.org.

“New Bedford’s vibrant downtown has been reconnected with its working waterfront and the Summer Sound Series is a great way to celebrate that. After the success of last year’s series, there was a groundswell of popular demand for more of the same throughout our downtown. The Summer Sound Series is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy live music on the waterfront with friends and family and then stay in New Bedford to shop, dine and explore our beautiful city,” said Mayor Jon Mitchell.

Beginning on July 11, 2014, be sure catch Lunchtime Jazz at Custom House Square on Fridays from noon to 1:30PM and Sidewalk Sounds on Front Street Plaza from 6-8PM on Thursday evenings.
