City on a Hill GiftsToGive Service, Open House & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at New Location

City on a Hill is holding three events in the New Bedford community over the next two weeks.

Today, June 8, 2015, staff from City on a Hill’s network office will be participating in community service with GiftsToGive, a non-profit organization with the ambitious mission to build a community to tackle child poverty. City on a Hill staff will be supporting the work at the organization’s warehouse today in Acushnet servicing children all over the South Coast.

Charter Public School New Bedford will hold a public Open House on Thursday, June 11th at 6:00 p.m. Prospective students and families are welcome to join us in our newly renovated building at 384 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford, MA 02740 for building tours, student performances, and a chance to speak with school leaders, staff, and current students. We warmly welcome prospective students looking to enroll in the 9th grade in August 2015 and their families, as well as future students interested in learning more about our close-knit community and rigorous college prep curriculum.  City on a Hill New Bedford is now accepting student lottery entry forms (which can be found at www.cityonahill.org) for students interested in enrolling in grade 9 for fall 2015.

On Monday, June 15th at 8:00am, City on a Hill will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting at our new location at 384 Acushnet Avenue. About City on a Hill
The newest school in a network of three college prep high schools, City on a Hill New Bedford opened in August of 2014 with a 9th grade and will grow to a full (grades 9-12) high school by 2017. Founded on the belief that all students can achieve, CoaH sets high standards for all students and empowers teachers in the decision-making process to implement those standards. City on a Hill is tuition-free and open to all students. There is no entrance exam; students are admitted by a random lottery with new students admitted in the ninth grade only. Small by design, the school allows for a maximum enrollment of 280 students in grades 9-12. Regardless of their prior educational attainment 100% of City on a Hill’s graduates are prepared to succeed in college.
