Here’s a look at a longer version at the flash mob during family day at the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.
Yesterday morning at approximately 10:41 a.m., Trooper Joshua McKelligan of the Troop H Community Action Team (CAT) was on patrol in Avon on Route 24 Southbound, when he stopped a 2000 Toyota Camry Solara, after observing motor vehicle violations. The location of the stop was Route 24 Southbound, just prior to Exit 19 in Avon.
The driver was identified as NICHOLAS H. DAVIS, 31, of Taunton. As the result of an investigation and subsequent search of the vehicle, a illegally possessed loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun was located. When the firearm was located, DAVIS fled the location on foot. DAVIS is not licensed to carry a firearm.
Trooper McKelligan gave chase, while other troopers and Avon Police established a perimeter. State Police K-9 as well as Air Wing responded to assist. During the foot chase, Trooper McKelligan did sustain a minor injury while pursuing DAVIS in the woods.
After the perimeter was established, and a search of the area was conducted, DAVIS was located behind a residence on Winship Way in Stoughton.
DAVIS was subsequently placed under arrest, and brought to the State Police Barracks in Milton for booking.
DAVIS was charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a firearm without FID card;
Carrying a dangerous weapon;
Possession of ammunition without FID card;
Failure to stop for police;
Send/read electronic message;
Marked lanes violation;
Resisting arrest.
DAVIS is being held on $50,000 bail, pending arraignment in Stoughton District Court on Monday.
No further information is available. Please do not contact the barracks directly.
